Go Big or Go Home Team Cupcakes and the Green Bay Packers went home. 🙁
The Green Bay Packers attempt at going to the Super Bowl has come to an end. They completely screwed the pooch this past Sunday when they played the Atlanta Falcons. It was a sad time at our Packers party and for everyone watching their beloved Packers everywhere.
Thankfully for us, we had Go Big or Go Home Team Cupcakes, even if we went home.
Go Big or Go Home Team Cupcakes are a bit ironic because they are mini cupcakes. The “go big” aspect comes from them being topped with team-colored buttercream and Team Pretzel Hugs. There is more on the top of the mini cupcake than there actually is a mini cupcake; just the way I like it. Positively YUM!
Go Big or Go Home Team Cupcakes
- Your favorite mini cupcake recipe
- Buttercream Frosting
- Americolor Soft Gel Paste or Food Coloring in your team colors
- Team Pretzel Hugs
Step 1
Bake your favorite cupcake recipe as mini cupcakes. These bad boys were Very Banana Cupcakes. If you are using a box cake mix, an entire box makes about 80 mini cupcakes; you can half the recipe. Allow your mini cupcakes to completely cool before frosting.
Step 2
Make your Team Pretzel Hugs. As an added twist I used both regular size M&M's and mini M&M’s candies in my team colors, green and yellow, which I just picked out of the regular pack colors. Hershey’s Hugs work best for these treats as they melt perfectly and they look pretty too! Allow these to cool completely as this will make the chocolate solid again.
Step 3
Make your buttercream frosting and frost your mini cupcakes.
For the two-toned buttercream frosting, I put each color in separate 12" disposable piping bags with no tips attached. I cut the ends and then placed them into a larger 18" disposable piping bag fitted with a #1A Round Tip. The two-toned green and gold frosting came out perfectly and looked beautiful.
If you’re looking to make Green Bay Packer colors: Green - Leaf Green (10 drops), Super Black (1 drop), and Gold (10 drops).
Step 4
Immediately after you add a beautiful blob of two-tone frosting to your cupcake, gently press a Team Pretzel Hug onto the top. The Team Pretzel Hugs should be cooled prior to frosting and placing on top of cupcakes.
Tada! You’ve got yourself spirited, fun, and totally delish Go Big or Go Home Team Cupcakes!

Condolences on the Packers loss -- as a Steelers fan, I was really hoping for a Steelers-Packers Super Bowl. Sigh. I can't even bring myself to post the Steelers related dessert I had planned. I'll save it for next year. 😉

Thanks Julie! My hubby and I were also hoping for a Steelers-Packers Super Bowl. We were hoping to redeem ourselves from a few years back! 🙂
