If you follow the Life Is Sweet series then you’re probably wondering what happened to Life Is Sweet September 2019. In short, I skipped it.
September was such a crazy month with the start of football season, a very last-minute trip to Wo-Zha-Wa Festival in Wisconsin Dells with my brother and his family, finding my matron-of-honor dress for my sister’s wedding (I waited till the very last second.), building a house with a nightmare builder (Steeple Pointe Homes), baking 250 mini cupcakes for my sister’s wedding, and of course, my sister’s wedding.
Yes, it sounds like I would have had a lot to share but I was beyond overwhelmed and didn’t take a single picture, so I skipped it.
Of course, as I now share Life Is Sweet October 2019, I will, of course, share a few photos that I did not take from my sister’s wedding. How could I not?
Emily & Mike’s Wedding
My sister got married the last weekend in September in my parent’s backyard. Transforming their backyard was A LOT of work, but it turned out beautiful, as did the entire day. It was the one day we didn’t get rain in a sea of endless rain.
My sister, Emily, looked gorgeous! We made a lot of hilarious memories, drank too much, and I danced out a year’s worth of stress and anxiety.
I baked 250 mini cupcakes, chocolate, carrot, and banana in my horribly small apartment kitchen since the promised finished house was not finished. They were delicious (oh, banana cupcakes 🤤), were ALL eaten, and I didn’t take a single photo). 🤦🏻♀️
Suffice it to say, the entire day was an absolutely fabulous time filled with too many tears by me, lots of laughs, lots of dancing, and it went by very quickly!
Basse’s Pumpkin Farm
October is a favorite time of the year for me because I 🧡 Halloween and all that comes with it.
One of the events I try to be a part of is going to the pumpkin farm with my nieces and nephew. I love spending time with them doing the fun stuff and making memories!
Basses' Pumpkin Farm is a favorite because there is A LOT to do! My hubby and I went with my brother and his family, as well as my Dad. We were there for four hours, and there was still stuff we didn’t do!
It was a great day and the weather was beautiful. Joe and I didn’t get pumpkins this year because we have no place for them but next year, watch out. 🎃🎃🎃
Halloween at the Zoo
I haven’t spent nearly as much time doing “fun stuff” this year as I would have liked, which also means I haven’t spent as much time with friends and family. It’s been a crazy year and NOT in a good way.
I got to make what is probably the last trip for the year to the Milwaukee County Zoo with my sister and my nephew.
It was a nice day at the zoo. I got to spend time with them, see some animals, see the Halloween decorations, get some steps, and enjoy the outdoors.
We got a bit up close and personal with Ruth the elephant which I was pretty mesmerized by; what a gorgeous animal.
Trick-or-Treat
Another Halloween event I try to never miss is trick-or-treating with my nieces and nephew. I went the first year when my god-daughter was almost one and now there are three of them.
I love seeing their Halloween costumes, spending time with them, and eating their candy. They should have adult trick-or-treat. I know I can buy all the candy I want but it’s just not the same.
The kids are so generous with their treats and seem to enjoy that I am there, that probably won’t last forever so I am going to enjoy it as much as I can while I am allowed. 👻🍬🍫
Our House
I hate complaining about building my house here. It makes me feel ungrateful but our experience with Steeple Pointe Homes has been such a monumental disaster that I feel it’s important to share. Maybe my experience will make others feel better about their frustrating builds, or warn people, and mostly help me maintain some sanity because honestly, I am not sure I have any left.
In the last couple of months, they’ve gotten a lot done BADLY. Our concerns about quality were ignored and they now have a very major problem they don’t know how to fix, which is made more difficult by having aspects of the house done over mistakes and other aspects just being done.
If we could go back in time we would have NEVER hired Steeple Pointe Homes and would have hired our own contractors and done it ourselves. It would have been done correctly, we would be getting what we paid for, the house would be done, and we would be a hell of a lot happier.
Unfortunately, hindsight is 20/20, and all the research we did in choosing Steeple Pointe Homes didn't help when all the answers to our questions were lies.
I haven’t documented anything on Instagram stories in weeks because of all the problems but hopefully, I can get back to posting again soon and maybe they will be somewhere near finishing. Positive progress would be GREAT. 😢🤬😭🤯
