Life Is Sweet June 2019 was a little sparse, but we've got a bridal shower and the house to talk about.
The above is my brother - man of honor, my sister - the bride, and myself - matron of honor.
If you're wondering what the heck I am looking at, your guess is as good as mine. I'd like to think I am daydreaming about donuts. 🍩🤣
The reality is I just don't take good pictures. I am always looking at the wrong person or camera. IDK, maybe I am not even paying attention, which is entirely possible at this point of the bridal shower.
I will say this though, life is sweeter when donuts are involved!!
Bridal Shower
Last weekend I hosted a bridal shower for my sister with a lot of much-appreciated help.
The display shower, a Bridal Brunch, was simple and sweet, and a total success!
I even made delish heart-decorated cookie favors. I was practicing a new frosting technique, as well as heat sealing and shrink wrapping. They did not turn out as I had hoped but that happens when you're testing new techniques.
I'll be discussing the Bridal Brunch in detail in a new Beyond the Mixer series, Entertaining.
Beyond the Mixer: Entertaining will feature party inspiration, as well as touch base on etiquette, which is apparently lacking in extremes these days. I.E. if the party is adults only, you don't bring your kid. We will be getting real in the new series, but also fun inspiration.
I digress, the bridal shower is now over and it's time to plan the joint bachelor /bachelorette party!
And you know, a new series on SBS, so YAY!
Our House
Oh, the house. I would love to share with you some news and pictures of the house that is more interesting. Unfortunately, this house is moving at glacial speed (10 months and counting) and other than bitching about the slowness or how absolutely flawed this process has been, there hasn't been much else to share. I seriously hope that changes soon!! 😟
They poured the concrete for our front porch, garage, and lower-level basement floor. As you can see from the front porch, we need A LOT of fill, way more than we should have EVER needed. If you ever venture to build a house, my tip on this is to make sure YOU know what your elevation should be. If I have learned anything from our experience it is YOU HAVE TO ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF, nobody else will and this includes your builder.
Oh, we also got fake front doors, for the time being.
All of our four-panel Anderson 200 sliding doors went in. We have two sets off the dinette, one off the master bedroom, and two out of the exposed lower level. It looks nice seeing things closed up.
They also dug our well this month. Apparently, that went well, no pun intended. I know jack-squat about well-digging or water quality other than we need to have the water tested. I've bookmarked this resource as a future reference for when we get to that point. I am not a fan of my water tasting all minerally.
On a slightly different note, my very small apartment is filling up fast with plumbing and lighting fixtures. It kind of makes me feel like our house is moving along even though it isn't, but also our small apartment is getting smaller and we don't have room to put anything. 😬
One of these days I hope to share the fun stuff, like the inside and said plumbing and lighting fixtures. 😆
