Crazy-crazy pretty much sums up my August.
The remaining year is only going to get more insane as my house moves towards what should be the end, my sister gets married, our moving, #Choctoberfest, and the holidays.
I am going to need a vacation after this year.
Let’s get to talking beyond the mixer with Life is Sweet August 2019.
WI State Fair
We kicked off August with the WI State Fair. I attended twice, once with the hubby and again with my sister, mom, and the munchkins (aka my nieces and nephew).
The Wi State Fair is always a good time; there is so much dang food you’re swimming in calories just by walking through the entrance. Our state fair is known for cream puffs but I am not a fan so no puffs for me.
I took the non-fun approach and tried not to horrendously ruin my diet. This wasn’t crazy difficult since I am so basic when it comes to food. I did try a bite of my very first corn dog. It was not bad. 😜
Cadie’s Wedding
We hit up our first wedding of the year, but not our last, my cousin Cadie’s wedding. The wedding and the day were beautiful. We had a blast socializing with my family and getting crazy on the dance floor.
I absolutely LOVE dancing. It’s my favorite. It's when I feel the freest. I don’t care what I look like. I don’t care if people are watching. Most of all, I get out of my head and I stop thinking about everything that is bothering me, which is usually a lot (the house).
We had an absolutely fabulous time!
Milwaukee Zoo A La Carte
Immediately after WI State Fair ends it’s Milwaukee Zoo A La Carte. We are frequent visitors to the Milwaukee Zoo, so Zoo A La Carte is a MUST.
Zoo A La Carte is food, I ate like a beast, and music at the zoo; plus you get to see the animals in the evening/night.
Seriously, how cute is this sloth? I rarely ever see his adorable face because he's always sleeping. The animals in the evening are the BEST!
A Bachelor/Bachelorette Party
Per request, I put together a joint Bachelor/Bachelorette Party for my sister and her soon-to-be hubby. We went to WI Dells for a fun weekend of food, drinks, axe throwing, dancing, and debauchery.
WI Dells has A LOT of ridiculous t-shirt shops and we all ended up getting spirit animal tees that we wore around town. It was a hoot.
We went to Asgard Axe Throwing and had a BLAST! I highly recommend this place. I have never been axe throwing before and I am positively horrible at it, but it was a lot of fun.
The weekend came to an end with a night at Showboat Saloon, where we had drinks and danced the night away. It was a great weekend!
I can’t believe we are through the bridal shower and the Bachelor/Bachelorette Party.
Next stop, the wedding!! 👰🏻🤵🏻
Our House
This is probably not going to come as a shock but most of August our house was not being worked on.
Empty words and zero actions resulted in a visit to Steeple Pointe Homes office with me demanding to talk to the owners and for them to do better. It’s been two weeks since that conversation and honestly, it’s too soon to tell if better is actually happening (*Update, it does NOT get better).
The hubby and I insulated the garage, one of the several jobs we decided to do ourselves (and probably the only thing done correctly). Insulating the walls was easy, but the ceiling was another story. It was long hours, but we got it done, and during the five days we insulated, we were the ONLY ones working on our house. Shocker.
On the plus side, we got drywall last week and masonry started right before labor day weekend!
Drywall makes it look so much more like a house. I give a little tour with Instagram Stories and you can check it out in the House Highlights.
We still have a long way to go. They still have A LOT to do.
Unfortunately, with a winter clause at our apartment, we will be homeless come November and the odds are not in our favor that Steeple Pointe Homes will be done. 😬😢
So...it’s been a crazy July, an even crazier August, and I am pretty sure it’s about to get beyond crazy and stressful moving forward.
I’ll keep you posted. 😬
