This Recipe Roundup will put a Halloween cupcake spell on you! You'll find Halloween inspiration in red velvet cupcakes, maple chocolate chip cupcakes, brains, spiders, broken glass, and more. Muhahaha!
I love Halloween! It is my favorite holiday. I am kind of sad it is over. On the plus side, I am excited to get started on Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes!
For Halloween this year, my husband Joe went as The Riddler and I went as Poison...Poison Ivy. I won best female costume at the Annual Mosley Halloween Party. It was another year of Halloween good times and awesome Halloween costumes!
Every year Joe and I bring jello shots. It seems like we are trying to outdo ourselves each year by bringing more than the year before. This year we brought 173 jello shots. This is A LOT, I know.
I of course also brought cupcakes. I went a little overboard though and ended up making so many cupcakes I don't know what to do with them all. I brought three dozen {which is plenty}, and I still have another three dozen in my pantry, fridge, and freezer.
I brought three different cupcake recipes to the Halloween party, each with their own Halloween decor.
The first recipe was red velvet cake with cream cheese buttercream frosting. This cupcake was decorated with an edible sugar glass decoration. I also smeared around red velvet cake in the frosting to give it a more gory look. I think it worked.
The second cupcake recipe was Vanilla Cupcakes with Strawberry Filling and Vanilla Buttercream. I decorated this cupcake to look like brains. I received a lot of compliments on this cupcake. Apparently, strawberry filling is the way to go. I was a little disappointed with the color, but the Halloween party had a lot of black lights and red heat lamps that the color didn't make much difference.
The last cupcake I made was a Maple Chocolate Chip Cupcake with American Buttercream. I colored the cake using AmeriColor Gel Paste Electric Green and the buttercream with a combination of AmeriColor Gel Paste Electric Purple and Regal Purple to give it a more eery effect. I made royal icing spiders and piped a spider web onto each cupcake. The Halloween presentation/decorations of this cupcake are my favorite. This cupcake also got a lot of praise. I was told that it tasted like breakfast.
It took me a long time to transform myself into Poison Ivy, and thus I was unable to take the quality photos of my Halloween cupcakes that I would have liked. I am really happy with how all the cupcakes turned out though and am excited to try new Halloween recipes and decorations next Halloween!
What spooky Halloween treats did you make this year? I would LOVE to see them! Share your Halloween costumes too!
