If you love sneaking bites of cookie dough, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip is the perfect treat! Made without eggs and safe to eat, it’s a fun, scoopable twist on classic cookie dough.
I think it’s safe to say that a good chunk of people LOVE cookie dough, maybe even more than cookies themselves. Let’s face it; chocolate chip cookie dough is magnificent! We want to eat it with a spoon, as cookie dough truffles, and now as a delicious snack dip!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip is cookie dough, minus the eggs, that you can eat with graham crackers, animal cookies, apples, and the list goes on. I am partial to a scoop of cookie dough dip with graham crackers or animal crackers. Of course, you could just eat it with a spoon; some people probably do that.
This cookie dough dip is super simple to make and has a serious "WOW" factor when brought to gatherings and parties. My extended family was like, “what the what”, and then dug in with utter happiness. Of course, it’s that good; it’s edible cookie dough as a dip. Who wouldn’t want that?
What Makes This Cookie Dough Edible?
Traditional cookie dough isn’t technically safe to eat (I don’t make the rules) due to raw eggs and flour, which can carry salmonella and E. coli bacteria. Luckily, this cookie dough dip is eggless, which is also great because the price of eggs can be volatile, and a quick heat treat of the flour will fix that problem too.
To heat treat your flour you'll heat your oven to 350F degrees, spread it out on a baking sheet, and heat for 5-7 minutes or until flour reaches 165F degrees and then you're good to go to add to your cookie dough dip. I know you're going to want to skip this step, but I promise it's easy-peasy and this cookie dough dip is worth it.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip lets you enjoy it safely—no eggs, just pure indulgence! Perfect with graham crackers, animal cookies, or apple slices, it’s a fun, shareable treat for any occasion. Now go grab a spoon and dig in!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
- 2-4 tablespoons water or milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Spread the flour evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 5–7 minutes or until flour reaches 165F degrees to heat treat. Let it cool completely before using. Discard any burnt or clumpy flour—it should remain light, white, and fluffy. Once cooled, spoon the flour into a measuring cup and level it with a knife.
- In a medium bowl using an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugars on medium speed until light and creamy.
- Stir in flour, salt, and vanilla extract on low speed until incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Add water or milk a tablespoon at a time, stirring between each addition, until cookie dough reaches desired consistency. Eat & Enjoy!

My nephew wants me to make your cookie dough dip for his graduation party of 300 people. Needless to say, I would prefer to not have to make it all same day! Would I be able to make this ahead and put it in the deep freeze?
Sarah says
Hi Angela! I've never tried freezing it. I am not big into freezing. That being said, I don't see why you couldn't. Depending on how much ahead of time you are planning on making it, you could just put it in the refrigerator. Either way, it gets very hard in the fridge and I imagine harder in the freezer. Make sure to take it out ahead of time to soften, especially if you end up taking the freezer route. I hope that helps. Thanks & Happy Baking!!

great recipe! so many of cookie dough dip recipes end up tasting off. this consistency is definitely a bit thicker but the taste is excellent. highly recommend. thank you!!

Thanks for trying it, Erin! I am glad you like it! 🙂

Can this be left out or does it need to be refrigerated ?? I did use about a tvsp of milk on it after i added water and it was still thick
Sarah says
Hi Jessica! Yes, store in the fridge if it's not being used. It will get harder in the fridge (just like cookie dough) so be sure to remove a bit ahead of time for it to get back to cookie dough consistency. It will be thick like traditional cookie dough; it is not a thin dip. I hope that helps. Thanks for making!
